Put simply, v2 is a product for anyone who loves the taste of meat but wants to minimise the environmental impact of the meat they consume. v2 looks, cooks and tastes like meat but is made from plants.

Why did we bother?

We love the taste of meat, and the data suggests most of the world does too. But if we were to keep eating meat at current rates, the research suggests we’d need another whole planet to grow the animals necessary to meet this demand when the world’s population hits 10 billion in 2050. So we’re facing a future in which billions of people are going to need sustainable, nutritious meat to eat, but we’re not going to be able to do this with animals alone. v2 exists to give the planet a way to get that meaty taste we love from plants rather than animals.

How is v2 sustainable?

Environmental sustainability is a complex topic but we're committed to leading the charge towards sustainable nutrition. One of the most significant ways we can tackle the issue is by sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. When legumes are grown, they take carbon dioxide and nitrogen out of the atmosphere and can fix it into the soil. By consuming v2food products in place of animal meat products you are reducing your carbon footprint with every bite. How healthy is v2?

With the top scientists at CSIRO and our own R&D team, we've developed v2 to be as nutritious as meat with added nutritional value from plants. That's why v2 has protein, iron, zinc, phosphorus as well as Vitamin's B12, B3 and B6 just like animal meat but with a good dose of fibre and naturally no cholesterol. Why is there sodium/salt in v2?

We've worked with CSIRO scientists to mimic both the taste and the nutrition of animal meat, but with added dietary fibre and no cholesterol. As it currently stands, a serve of v2 mince represents 12% of your recommended daily intake for sodium.

Is v2 vegan?

Accepted Answer

v2 does not contain any animal products and does not use animal testing. That said, we supply a wide range of customers and some may not cook vegan meals with v2. If you are unsure we recommend checking at the place of purchase for other ingredients in the meal such as mayo or cheese.

Is v2 gluten free?

Accepted Answer

We’re happy to confirm that v2burger, v2mince and v2sausage do not contain gluten and are OK for celiacs! Our v2sauce however, does contain gluten. As with all things diet, we recommend you consult with your GP or dietician to ensure v2 is appropriate for your dietary needs if you have any individual concerns.

Our products are non-GMO. We've been able to get our awesome taste from naturally nutritious legumes.

How processed is v2?

Accepted Answer

At v2 we have worked with the experts at the CSIRO to ensure we can do the minimum amount of processing to enhance the nutrition and taste of the meat we make, and nothing more. The bottom line is, with animal meat, all the magic of combining protein, amino acids, water and fat to make some tasty meat happens inside the cow. For plant-based meat, you have to look outside the cow for your ingredients, and develop new processes for mixing these ingredients together for the same outcome.

We aspire to create products that can be enjoyed by the widest population possible so we're working hard to avoid as many allergens as we can. Our product contains Soy but before trying v2, we recommend you check the allergen information at the place of purchase.
